The trajectory of Salvador University (UNIFACS) demonstrates a constant alignment with the promotion of development (regional, sustainable, and human), the importance of which is expressed in its institutional mission. Since its creation, the institution has sought to articulate policies and guidelines for its teaching, research, and extension activities with the socio-economic vocations and demands of the region.
The relevance of the Postgraduate Programme in Law, Governance and Public Policy (PPGDGPP) for UNIFACS lies in its objective of strengthening its institutional foundations. At the same time, it enables a convergence of competencies from the renowned academic training of the undergraduate programme, in particular from the Law and Administration faculties of this institution, its teaching staff and its vocation and mission to contribute to the aforementioned developments and growth.
The PPDGPP is interdisciplinary and professional in nature, as well as being the result of the desire and commitment of a group of faculty members from different academic areas at UNIFACS, who bring together knowledge in the areas of Administrative, Legal, Social and Economic Sciences. It is therefore structured in such a way as to transcend the walls of compartmentalised knowledge and foster interdisciplinary skills.

In summary, the PPDGPP aims to broaden the dialogue between public management strategies geared towards an innovation and development agenda with the aim of overcoming the main obstacles currently faced in the management of programmes, projects and actions involving public-private partnerships, non-governmental organisations and private companies in the pursuit of activities of interest to society.
This Master's programme is considered to be of particular interest in the Northeast, not only because of the small number of master's programmes in the region with a profile similar to this course, but also and mainly to contribute to the training of future managers, especially managers to conduct public policies involving different sectors and social actors requiring high governance capacity, with excellence in the academic, technical and professional background that the programme aims to offer.
Thus, the area of concentration in Law, Governance and Public Policy is located at the intersection of the role and action of the State, Non-Governmental Organisations and private initiative when they act in public policies towards common goals. It focuses on the legal aspects of management to meet the political, economic, social, environmental and financial objectives of a given public policy. It involves social communication, current trends in public and private management, governance and control that meet the specific needs of the public sector, the private sector and non-governmental organisations in the joint implementation of action programmes designed to meet a particular social or governmental demand. It is clearly interdisciplinary and aimed at bringing together professional work that bridges the gap between academia and the reality of public policy implementation.
